Payment and Refund Policy | Edgeducate

This Payment and Refund Policy applies to all bookings and purchases made with The Edgeducation Company Pty Ltd trading as Edgeducate (“Edgeducate”, “we”, “our”, “us”).

This Policy should be read together with our Terms and Conditions.

1. Payment Terms

1.1 All bookings must be made via our authorised booking platform, currently Eventbrite.

1.2 Full payment is required at the time of booking unless a prior written instalment arrangement has been expressly agreed by Edgeducate.

1.3 Instalment arrangements, where approved, must be agreed in writing prior to commencement. Failure to make instalment payments may result in suspension of attendance until outstanding amounts are paid.

1.4 Prices are displayed at the time of booking. Confirmed bookings will not be affected by subsequent price changes.

2. General Refund Position

2.1 Fees are non-refundable except:

  • Where required under Australian Consumer Law; or

  • At the sole discretion of Edgeducate.

2.2 Change of mind does not entitle a customer to a refund.

2.3 Requests for refunds must be made in writing and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

2.4 Refunds, where approved, will be processed via the original payment method within a reasonable timeframe. Processing times may vary depending on the payment provider.

3. Illness

3.1 Where a student is unable to attend due to illness, a refund may be considered upon provision of a valid medical certificate covering the relevant session dates.

3.2 Refunds for illness are not automatic and are subject to review.

3.3 Make-up sessions are not guaranteed and are not offered as a standard alternative to refunds.

4. Withdrawal from Multi-Week Programs

4.1 Withdrawal after commencement of a multi-week program does not entitle a participant to a refund.

4.2 Refund requests will be considered only at Edgeducate’s discretion or where required by law.

5. Removal for Misconduct

5.1 Where a student’s enrolment is suspended or terminated due to misconduct or breach of Terms and Conditions, refunds will be considered at Edgeducate’s discretion.

5.2 Edgeducate reserves the right to prioritise safety, wellbeing and learning integrity in making such decisions.

6. Cancellation by Edgeducate

6.1 If a session or program is cancelled by Edgeducate due to tutor unavailability, venue unavailability or emergency circumstances, a full refund will be provided for the affected session(s).

6.2 Where a session is rescheduled and the participant is unable to attend the new date, a refund will be provided.

6.3 Low enrolment does not automatically result in cancellation. Edgeducate reserves the right to proceed with sessions regardless of enrolment numbers.

7. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes

7.1 Where a payment dispute or chargeback is initiated, Edgeducate reserves the right to review attendance and future enrolment on a case-by-case basis.

7.2 Edgeducate may require resolution of disputed amounts, including any associated chargeback fees incurred by Edgeducate, prior to permitting further enrolment or attendance.

8. Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in this Policy excludes, restricts or modifies rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Where a major failure occurs under Australian Consumer Law, customers are entitled to a remedy as provided by law.

9. Private Tuition

9.1 Private tuition sessions must be paid in full prior to the scheduled session unless otherwise agreed in writing.

9.2 Private tuition bookings are non-refundable once confirmed, except where required by Australian Consumer Law.

9.3 If a Parent or Participant cancels a private session:

  • At least 24 hours’ notice is required to reschedule. Repeated rescheduling may be refused at Edgeducate’s discretion.

  • Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will result in forfeiture of the session fee.

  • Failure to attend a scheduled session without notice will result in forfeiture of the session fee.

9.4 Rescheduling requests are subject to tutor availability and are not guaranteed.

9.5 Where a tutor cancels a private session, Edgeducate will offer either:

  • A rescheduled session; or

  • A refund for the affected session.

9.6 Where a private tuition package is purchased (multiple sessions), sessions must be used within the timeframe specified at purchase. Unless otherwise stated in writing, private tuition packages expire 6 months from the date of purchase. Unused sessions after expiry are forfeited and are non-refundable.

9.7 Edgeducate reserves the right to substitute tutors where reasonably necessary.

9.8 Private tuition sessions commence at the scheduled time. Late arrival does not extend the scheduled finish time.

9.9 Private tuition sessions are non-transferable and may not be transferred to another student without prior written consent from Edgeducate.
