How do I choose the right tutoring program for my child?

The right program depends on your child’s year level, current understanding and academic goals.

During your free consultation, we discuss their learning needs, explain the relevant entry requirements and recommend a suitable starting point. This may include additional one-on-one support through our Reinforcement Program.

Can my child join if they need extra learning support?

Yes, provided they meet the minimum entry requirements for their chosen program. Edgeducate supports students who need help strengthening their understanding or working through difficult concepts.

During your free consultation, we discuss your child’s current skills and may recommend our one-on-one Reinforcement Program for additional support. Please refer to the entry requirements below or contact our team for guidance.

Does Edgeducate support students who want an academic challenge?

Yes. Our tutoring programs support students who want to extend their skills, learn ahead and work towards higher academic achievement.

Challenging questions and targeted practice help students develop deeper understanding, reasoning and problem-solving skills while becoming more independent learners.

What does Edgeducate’s Primary Mathematics program cover?

Our primary school tutoring program focuses on Mathematics. Students develop number skills, mathematical understanding and problem-solving abilities through interactive learning, guided practice and revision.

The program builds foundations for classroom learning, NAPLAN numeracy, future selective school preparation and secondary school mathematics.

Can primary maths tutoring help my child catch up?

Yes. Edgeducate’s Primary Mathematics tutoring helps students revisit concepts, address gaps in understanding and strengthen areas of weakness through clear explanations and targeted practice.

Students who need additional help understanding concepts taught in class may benefit from our one-on-one Reinforcement Program. Entry requirements still apply to the main program.

Is Primary Mathematics suitable for students who are already doing well?

Yes. Students who are confident in mathematics can extend their skills through challenging questions and problem-solving activities.

Our program helps them deepen their understanding, apply concepts in unfamiliar situations and develop the skills to progress beyond their current classroom learning.

Does Primary Mathematics help with NAPLAN and future selective school preparation?

Yes. Edgeducate’s Primary Mathematics program develops mathematical understanding, reasoning and problem-solving skills that support NAPLAN numeracy preparation and future selective school entrance exam preparation.

These skills are valuable whether or not your child plans to attend a selective school. They help students approach challenging questions confidently and build a strong foundation for secondary school and later VCE mathematics.

Does Edgeducate offer selective school preparation and other secondary programs?

Yes. Our Year 7 and Year 8 programs focus on Selective School Preparation, developing students’ knowledge, reasoning and entrance exam skills.

Students can benefit from this learning even if they do not intend to apply for a selective school. The skills support stronger understanding, academic confidence and success at their current school.

Edgeducate also offers separate Year 9 and Year 10 programs to continue students’ development and support their progression towards VCE.

When should my child start selective school preparation?

Edgeducate recommends starting in Year 7, with preparation continuing through Year 8. Starting in Year 7 gives students more time to strengthen foundations, develop reasoning skills and practise entrance exam questions.

Students can also join in Year 8. Book a free consultation to discuss your child’s current skills and a suitable starting point.

How do Week A and Week B selective school classes work?

Our Selective School Preparation program alternates between teaching and exam practice:

Week A: Students learn content through explanations, guided examples and practice.

Week B: Students complete an in-class mock exam, followed by worked solutions, exam tips and strategies.

This structure helps students apply what they have learnt, identify areas for improvement and develop confidence under exam conditions.

Does selective school preparation include exam practice and time-management skills?

Yes. Students practise exam-style questions and learn to balance speed with accuracy.

Through mock exams and worked solutions, they develop strategies for approaching questions efficiently, managing their time and recognising areas that need further practice.

Does selective school tutoring guarantee admission?

No. Tutoring cannot guarantee admission to a selective school. Admission depends on the relevant selection process and the student’s performance.

Edgeducate helps students strengthen their knowledge, reasoning and exam skills. Consistent effort, regular practice and acting on feedback help students make the most of their preparation.

Which VCE subjects does Edgeducate offer?

Can I join VCE tutoring if I am struggling with a subject?

Yes, provided you meet the relevant program entry requirements. Edgeducate supports VCE students who need help understanding concepts, applying knowledge or answering questions.

If you need additional help with content taught in class, our one-on-one Reinforcement Program can provide personalised explanations and focused practice.

Is VCE tutoring suitable for students aiming for higher results?

Yes. Our VCE tutoring supports students who want to deepen their understanding, tackle challenging questions and strengthen their exam preparation.

Structured teaching, targeted practice and revision help students work towards higher results. We encourage students to aim high and support their goals through consistent effort and independent study.

Does Edgeducate teach VCE topics ahead of school?

Yes. Edgeducate teaches VCE topics before they are introduced at school and aims to complete the content months ahead of the school schedule.

This gives students an early understanding of each topic, helping them apply their knowledge more confidently in class and in their School-assessed Coursework (SACs).

Completing topics early creates more time to consolidate understanding, revise and practise exam questions before the final VCE exams.

How does Edgeducate help students prepare for VCE exams?

Our VCE tutoring combines subject teaching, targeted revision and exam-style practice.

Students learn to apply concepts, interpret questions and explain their reasoning clearly.

Completing content ahead of school allows more time to address weaknesses, refine exam techniques and practise applying knowledge across topics.

What is the Reinforcement Program?

Edgeducate’s Reinforcement Program provides one-on-one tutoring to help students understand concepts taught in their main class.

We personalise the explanations and teaching approach to suit how each student learns, focusing on the areas where they need assistance. These sessions help students clarify difficult concepts, practise applying their knowledge and follow their main program with greater confidence.

When would Edgeducate recommend the Reinforcement Program?

We may recommend the Reinforcement Program when a student needs further explanation or practice to understand content covered in their main class.

One-on-one sessions allow us to focus on specific difficulties, adapt the teaching approach and give students time to ask questions. The support complements their main program and helps them participate more confidently.

How can I find out about class times and availability?

Contact Edgeducate with your child’s year level and preferred tutoring program or VCE subject.

Our team will confirm the current timetable, available places and suitable class options.

Does Edgeducate offer a free consultation?

Yes. Edgeducate offers a free consultation to discuss your child’s year level, learning needs and academic goals.

We explain our tutoring programs, entry requirements, class availability and enrolment process to help you make an informed decision.

How do I enrol my child at Edgeducate?

Book a free consultation through our website or contact our team.

We will discuss your child’s learning needs, review the relevant entry requirements and recommend a suitable program. Once their suitability and class availability are confirmed, we will guide you through enrolment.

Why does Edgeducate have firm entry requirements?

Our entry requirements help ensure students have the foundational skills needed to participate in class and benefit from the program.

Many of these skills are introduced during the early primary years and require regular practice or memorisation. Having these foundations in place allows class time to focus on developing understanding, applying knowledge and tackling more challenging work.

Can a student in Grade 2 or below join if they meet the entry requirements?

Yes. We welcome younger students who meet the entry checklist and demonstrate the readiness to participate in class.

We discuss suitability during the consultation and continue to monitor their understanding, engagement and progress after they join.

What if my child does not complete their homework or in-class activities?

Homework and in-class activities helps students consolidate class learning, practise independently and identify areas where they need assistance. Regular completion is an important part of the commitment expected at Edgeducate.

Students are encouraged to develop self-discipline and take responsibility for their learning. We ask parents to support this by encouraging a consistent homework routine. If your child is struggling to complete the work because they do not understand it, please let our team know so we can discuss suitable support.
